This holiday warming advertisement, done by the PRR in the 1940's shows Santa and a PRR conductor looking in on a little girl fast asleep in a berth. Enroute for a Christmas morning arrival to loved ones on a PRR "Fleet of Modernism" Streamliner. Sand and the conductor are making sure she is sound asleep and ready for his big visit, which might even happen on this streamliner; although one wonders where he found the chimney. Ads like this were wonderful heartwarming ways the railroads, before Amtrak and jets, made folks want to ride trains to go "home" for the holidays.
Greeting: May the thoughts of Santa's visit of yesteryear to this Pennsylvania Railroad Streamline bring fondest memories of holidays old and new. Best of the season this year and a prosperous New Year. |
