Rock Island Commuter. Head west from Oak Forest to Tinley Park, this Rock Island commuter train of the early 1970's is carrying shoppers and commuters to Western Stations of Tinley Park, Mokena, New Lenox, and Joliet on a holiday afternoon. Rock Island went into bankruptcy in 1976, and ultimately out of business in 1980. This line was required by Metra and commuter trains stills operate on the line between Chicago and Joliet as well as freight trains of CSX and Iowa Interstate.
Best Wishes to you and yours for a wonderful holday season and a prosperous New Year. |
